@armedferret , holy ****!

//

Two things gents.

1) Sartoria Pastena is visiting DC 1-3 March. Plenty of spots left on all three days. Sign up link below.

2) I am planning on late morning Sunday appointment, going to throw out a lunchtime meetup near hotel (I have no clue on a venue) if there’s anyone who wants to come out for lunch/brunch, or an afternoon beverage. (Doesn't matter if you’re ordering from Pastena or not)

Note, #2 does not replace a possible evening meetup in Feb or March to eat at one of Washingtonian’s top 100.
I should be able to plan this out ahead enough and hope nothing happens. Would be fun for sure. Especially if another meet up happens.

Also the glen plaid and houndstooth came back from the tailors 🥰

Honestly not really sure if there is anything else I need except stuff for more formal parties.

Does Geoffrey Lewis require an appointment for tailoring or is it walk-in? If the latter, what is a typical wait time?

I always call ahead and usually get in same-day. A few times I just wandered in but they were with clients so I coordinated to come back later that day or the next.

They do a lot of MTM in shirts and tailoring along with a busy wedding season.

This gets covered almost weekly! I’ve been going here for 15 years now. They do great work.

I wonder if there is a way to place a sticky at the top for “best of D.C.,” because I asked the same question when I first moved here!

Alterations: + 2 for Geoffrey Lewis

Dry cleaning: Besson’s near Logan Circle (came recommended by Geoffrey Lewis). Or Parkway if the item is special and money is no concern.

Dangerous question: How do you typically launder you Ikiji polo? I've been thinking of getting one from their online store, but have been putoff by their washing instructions, which seem overly conservative.

I usually dry clean nice knitwear. I have some Smartwool used as active wear and will wash on delicate and dry flat.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
