I need to step up my drinking game, I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get some Johnnie Walker Blue or other higher quality liquors in the Bay Area preferably a place in Palo Alto...

Did you grow up down in that area?

I used to go to Draegers almost every day for lunch in High School. Actually, last Friday I picked up a sandwich from Draegers for lunch.

I'm from LA but worked for a company on Cambridge near the California ave area a few summers ago and lived with a friend in PA who was working for Yahoo and knew about sandwiches. I recommend giving JJ&F on Camino Real/College a try. Not quite Draegers but not bad just the same.

Andronico
Draeger
Whole Foods
Trader Joe (probably the cheapest)
Bevmo
Beltramo's
K and L Wines (the classiest)

Was that the Menlo Park one, or the San Mateo one? I just got a bottle of Germain-Robin from the Menlo Park one last night. Good brandy, that. Have you made your way as far down as Dittmer's, Matt? BTW, Trader Joe's does not carry Blue Label, AFAIK. It does, however, carry Macallan and Laphroig.

Which would be better choices anyway.

I live in the city now, so the San Mateo version is more accessable, but I was talking about the Menlo Park one in this case. I have never been to Dittmer's, but grew up on the Peninsula so I have been as far south as Mt. View many times. Is it worth checking out?

Yep - I wish they still carried Bowmore like they used to, but Laphroig will do in a pinch.

Eminently - its a Wurst-Haus featuring 30 varieties of sausage and 20 kinds of cured meats on the average. Almost makes South Bay life worthwhile. The hard Paprika sausage and the Hannoverwurst are excellent, as is their own Westphalian-style ham.

I could swear that they do. It would be up in the front with the registers. I'll ask a buddy works in one in San Diego.

Why pay $30 a shot for the stuff in a bar? I like JW Blue and have had a few in bars but it always seemed like a waste of money. Better to buy a bottle for home and drink something else in bars imo.

You may be right - I may have overlooked it since I don't usually drink it. I remember seeing it in Costco, though.

God I love Costco for booze. I'm glad they've been adding a lot more top-tier stuff instead of more handles of Cuervo and Bacardi.
