Oyster season just opened here in Bluff (lucky me). Richest damn oyster I ever did taste.

Are they traveling alone or in large herds?

Have you had NZ "Mexican" food yet? Lamb tacos with mint "hot sauce" are not to be missed. I wouldn't say they are to be eaten, but they are not to be missed.

Herds. Quite rare it is to see one traveling in solitude.

Did see a Mexican place in Queenstown, but was pretty keen on the meat pies and furgburgers, and never bothered to try it. Maybe on my way back up.

Now on Stewart Island, far away from the buzz. Feels great. The seafood here is exceptionally delicious.

Agree as I always eat them raw. I would be willing to try cooked oysters if they were of the $1 each variety (usually bland).

ugh I don't get deep fried oysters, seems such a waste to me

I don't look at it this way. Fresh oysters might be my favorite thing to eat, but I also dig a good oyster po boy. But I'd rarely consider "either one or the other" ... that is, fresh oysters are one thing while fried oysters are a totally different animal. I guess somewhat like roast chicken vs. chicken wings.

William and Heim wine pairing dinner I went to on the invite of a friend. Food was great. The Cab Franc, Triple Entrende, and the Cab Sauv. were okay. The Merlot and the Chard, um, not for me. They are pretty proud of the wine from a pricing standpoint.

Hard to tell from the picture, but the risotto looks a bit too liquid to me. How was it? What is the last dish?

A simple search...

2013 Cabernet Sauvignon – Lamb Bolognese, House Ricotta, Handmade Tagliatelle

Edit: Yeah, the price looks pretty good for what you get. $88.50 including tip

Edit 2: why a merlot for a spring risotto? seems a little strange to me

Risotto had good flavor with a creamy sauce, but yeah the texture was a little off due to the excess of cream I think. Risotto is not an easy dish for restaurants to do IMO, I get better results at home. Last dish was Lamb Bolognese, House Made Ricotta, Handmade Tagliatelle. The Beef Cheek Pot Pie with Duck Fat Crust and Chicken Livers was the standout of all of them. Again the wines were just okay, not worthy of the price points.
