Shirt, tie, jeans. I wear waistcoats casually quite often, but I wouldn't wear that one myself as it looks like it was orphaned from a suit.

i like how heritage 21's jeans are randomly priced it seems. one pair was 28$, the other was 29, and another was 30.

I like it. Is it possible to know whether the back is silk? i prefer vests to be uniform in material for casual wear.

Definitely. I'd even consider wearing it with a tshirt. a plain white AA vneck or something would look cool with it imo

I think waistcoats look good with simple tees. that would IMO work well with a white tee, or with a black tee. I have a grey one that I wear with black and white tees usually. I think the key is that the tee is not too short.

Where do you find your vests? I have trouble finding my size since they usually end up too short (I wear a 39L jacket).

ebay and J.Crew mostly, but I've recently fallen in love with Engineered Garments vests.

Vests should be somewhat short though, but how tall are you? I'm about 6'2" and I don't have any problems with my vests in that regard and most of them are just measured as mediums or as 39/40R. If you really do need something longer, you might want to check out the traditional outlets like Brooks Brothers or Joseph Banks where you can get them in a 39L measurement.

I'm not much taller than you at 6'3", but I've never really worn vests before. Maybe I just don't know how they should fit. My impression is they should cover the belt(?).

It probably depends on where your pants rest. When I'm wearing mine with jeans (usually a regular ralf cut), my vests will cover the the belt area in the front, and most of the belt area in the back where it's shorter.
