there are also torrents for the tsr rpg "top secret".....if you were ever into that game..

Never heard of it actually.

I'm really just into the original D&D to admire the cool 70s artwork that freaked out so many parents. I have neither the time or inclination to actually start pen and paper roleplaying again.

If I did, I'd likely go for the Palladium system. When I was into gaming I really enjoyed the Palladium settings. So much more imaginative than TSR's offerings at the time.

Excellent book, btw. I saw Don Asher speak recently, I thought his approach was great.

For fun:

I was blown away by this book it is so very tragic and terrifying. Even though the book is almost 200 years old and it's been made into movies/parodies I'm surprised by how unique it is to read. Damn it sucks to be Victor Frankenstein in this story, he really lost everything.

I'm reading Gang Leader for a Day.

Pretty good so far (I'm familiar with the area 10-20 years later which is also interesting) although I felt pretty stupid today on the way to my dentist when I was reading it on a bus going through the same neighborhoods he is writing about.

Just heard a review and interview with Andre Aciman on the NY Book Review podcast on his new book Alibis: Essays On Elsewhere which sounds interesting

I've heard the same thing about Dracula, which I still need to read.

I found it quite unbearable. Still interesting how it differs from the image of Frankenstein we have from pop culture.

A lot better, if you ask me.

I really, really, really don't like Dracula. It's pretty boring, IMO. Frankenstein is much more interesting.

The Aeneid. Just finished book six: now I know why Dante made Virgil his guide. I'm reading the Fagles translation.

Interestingly I'm the exact opposite. Dracula was a **** ton of really bad and boring melodrama and couldn't even finish it. Loved Frankenstein.
