Broader, nicely put. It is broader and more wacky, but Gibon's is finer and more focused. I like them both: I'm sort of in love with both Anathem and the Pattern Recognition/Spook Country/Zero History trilogy, but its hard to imagine Stephenson and Gibson were once linked by a common literary movement.
I definitely think that Stephenson has a broader imagination than Gibson based on the little I've read of each.
