Haha, I have that small country pride (read: inferiority complex) where my instinct is to automatically say "yes I'm in the most beautiful country in the world" whenever I'm asked that.

I've got to learn to temper that because I imagine it seems a little pathetic whenever anyone asks a NZer about their country and they start raving...

Case in point: Prime Minister John Key's appearance on Letterman is cringeworthy.

Oddly, I took a practice NZ driving test today. I answered numbers 10 through 20 without reading the questions and only got 2 wrong. OTOH, I ultimately failed the test because I refused to wait behind some guy who wouldn't drive through a pedestrian crossing even though there were no pedestrians present.

Other than that and the whole 'driving on the wrong side of the road thing', the place looks quite pleasant.

^that's New South Wales, in Australia. Not New Zealand.

Our road rules were recently changed so that they're slightly more compatible with Australia's. It used to be that the person turning right would always have right of way over a person turning left - the car with the dotted line would have right of way. That's changed now.

I think Australia also has a rule that you can turn left on a red light.

Don't worry, Dig. All those countries that drive on the wrong side of the road look alike... :D
