I will say, shortly after I bought my '07 M Coupe (indep, not CPO -- they only made 1800, afterall, and less than 10 in the color scheme I wanted), I had to pay to have the motor mount bolts replaced WHILE UNDER WARRANTY. That really annoyed me -- BMW says it won't pay to replace any item that is not still attached to the car -- I literally asked the guy if my alternator fell off would they replace it, and he told me, flatly, no. $500 bucks. I was a little pissed.
Just have to pay to play with the big timers...
Its not the money that pisses him its the ****** quality. You shouldn't have to go once a month to get your "quality" car fixed for the same thing over and over. He is not getting rid of it he is just going to keep it for when he is off island and get an actual "big timer" car.
Big timer was a Joke. Sorry you missed it. The point is if you buy a Used car--which I'm not into--there is a better than average chance that it will be troublesome for a variety of reasons...whatever the brand. And if your a sucker for punishment you buy a USED sports car that will cost a great amount of Resourses and grief as well.

That should have been escalated to BMWNA - there's a TSB (technical service bulletin) out about that issue, no way it shouldn't have been covered.

Damnit. Think its worth pursuing months later? I remember telling the BMW rep that Pontiac's warranty service treated me better.
I'm getting conflicting points in this entire thread... but too sum up: If you love your car, and are willing to put in the effort, it's worth owning a classic BMW? I have no experience in car repair, but I still have my sights set upon owning a BMW 2002. It has that mix of looking cool, classic, and affordable (as compared to other options). Am I mad in wanting this as my main car?
