Sure you can find pictures of guys broaching the rules, but the word breaching tells the story.

I think the use of the word 'rules' tells the story...

Well guys, around here, in the northwest, 50 years ago, nobody seriously called them tweeds, suits. Jobs and events demanded the appropriate clothes. Sure, you could wear them certain places, and guys did, but it was never really considered a suit. If you wanted that job and it demanded a suit you didn't wear tweed. The hippie rebellion was because of so many rules, which ripped out so many refinements that are long gone forgotten. Sure you can find pictures of guys broaching the rules, but the word breaching tells the story.

So, are you saying that in the northwest of the US the term suit only refers to a business suit?

I am sure the majoirty will agree that tweed suit aren't for work when you are required to look business-like.

What if you are the gamekeeper on a Scottish estate?

I had understood that the whole idea there is not to wear trousers. Especially if you're the gamekeeper.

Wouldn't that be a bit chilly? Especially in Scotland?

Not only the kilt, but sonething that resembles a “3-piece” suit with matvhing waistcoat.

Save for that exception, I believe the point is raised and taken.

How about a few more?

A Cheviot, and a Harris tweed suit:

A Shetland tweed suit:

And an Irish Donegal tweed suit:

Plenty more where these came from.

Would appreciate it if anyone can point me in the direction of a light grey sharkskin between 11-13 oz with lots of mottling. Can't seem to find any from my tailor's limited supply of cloth books. Thanks in advance!

Harrisons Oyster/Thistle 13oz has three shades of grey sharkskin. Best texture I've seen.
