I think the Raglan is well sized. Especially considering you already turned back the sleeves. I am very curious on how my size 40 will look on me. What are your stats if I may ask?

On the blazer I think it really is oversized look like 80s Armani or the stuff P.Johnson is up to at the moment. Personally I would size down because I assume even with a turtleneck under it, it still will be quite big

Is it normal for their OCBD's to have imperfections or dark markings? Picked up a Cream ticking stripe, and it's had little dark dots or marks within the fabric twice now. They're small, as if the tip of a pen quickly poked the shirt, but somewhat noticeable given the light color. The fabric itself seems a little... pilled too for a lack of a better word. Is this par for the course with the markings? Does the slight fuzzyness of the fabric go away over time with wash and wear?

I'm wearing a white one right now as I'm typing this, and while the weave of Drake's Oxford cloth is more open than others, I don't see anything that looks like a hole. Their oxford cloth is slightly peached (fuzzy), and the white solid and white in stripe patterns is very subtly off-white in a vintage way, but no markings. I have the Armory's sport chinos in the natural color and it's undyed cotton that does have some faint seed specking to it but I've never seen this in Drake's shirts. Where did you get it from?

I got the shirt (and exchange) through the website. Put a couple pics below for reference, the dot is small, but it's black on a cream/white shirt so you can see it 5-10 feet away. There's also a weird red mark on an arm. I fully recognize the potential I'm being too picky. I try not to be as I am weary of others expecting perfection from welted shoes for $300. But in my closet of dozens of OCBDs from many other brands I simply haven't seen this.

For you coverall owners out there, what are some of your gripes, or maybe things you could change/add? I'm curious!
Just returned one I bought at a sale. The sleeves were just too short for me, and i was surprised the padding was so substansial. I guess I would like the lightweight coverall better.

I absolutely love mine - the marketing write-up is correct, I grab for it all the time. Living in Scotland I find the weather suits it well - bit drizzly and chilly most days, so I like how substantial it is!

Like others have said, the sizing is weird. I have a 36, can fit decent knitwear and a blazer under it but the sleeves are too short. There is a bit of fabric left in the sleeve so one day I might see if an alterations place could take them out a touch. A 38 would be ok in the sleeves but maybe too big elsewhere.

I take a 40 in Drakes chores because of how narrow I find the shoulders, so the sizing is definitely an absolute crapshoot, but otherwise it's terrific.

That's interesting, I would have assumed it was maybe lighter like a Barbour. I would've imagined the padding coverall would sort of remedy the issue Barbours have where they can feel pretty cold on their own (without layering), but still being boxy enough to be breathable. But I guess the padding is too much?

How are the sleeves lined? Nylon, cotton, etc.? I ask because Barbours sleeves make you sweat quite a bit, since the one I had was lined with nylon.

In essence, I'm asking what are the pros of the coverall that would make it superior to a Barbour, and what are its shortcomings?

Thanks for all the insights!

I have both a Barbour (olive) and a Drake’s (navy). And I wear them both a lot! Exactly because the Barbour is lighter, so when the temperature drops to below say 10 degrees Celsius I wear the Drake’s. I like them both. Plus it helps that the colours are different.

ETA: I have the Barbour classic Beaufort.

The sleeves are lined with some sort of cotton (and the padding of course). I think its an oxford cloth.

But one thing i really liked about the coverall is that the sleeves was alot roomier compared to an barbour bedale. Easier to put on and to layer with. Will probably remedy the sweating on arms aswell.

The regular coverall(with padding) is alot warmer than the bedale jacket. So it felt like it wouldnt replace a bedale, but rather be a jacket for even colder temperatures.

But I have to say - all in all - it was a much more beautiful jacket than the barbour.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
