Yeah prowler. I've never properly played sports and not a fan of anything close to interval or HIIT training. I haven't done cardio in 2 months and I'm pretty sure I'm back to being completely out of shape.

Airdyne, so that's the annoying, loud fan bicycle I see at the gym. How does it compare to using an elliptical? That's all I did to maintain cardio, I found the treadmill to be rough on my joints.

Your old tailor sounds hilarious.

Airdyne bikes are awful - frankly even more horrible than rowing machines. Best used for intervals / as part of a circuit - Crossfit style. Not really great for base conditioning. For that I just hit my Wahoo bike. Hit up Zwift, load up a podcast, and try to block out the pain / boredom. I do a fair amount of ski touring / ski mountaineering in winter - so was putting in the hours during December and January to prepare (+120km per week). Now back to mainly doing my Oly lifting with a 1-2 ice hockey sessions each week for conditioning

Ok, sounds like I'll stick to the elliptical. I find it's low impact and doesn't cause weird pains like a treadmill.

I don't notice my cardio fading until I get winded after doing cardio for 5 minutes.

Any idea on how long it takes to get back to previous shape after doing nothing for 2 months?

How old are you? For me (45) I would say 4 months, but with really taking care of it (structured increase of strain; managing sleep and nutrition; occasional massages / physio)

I'm 28, but relatively flimsy for my age. 4 months sounds like a reasonable conservative estimate for me, thanks.

When you say get back into shape are you asking about cardio or strength?

For me, I find it takes about 2-3 weeks to get strength back and like 4-6 to get cardio. That's if I do either one consistently.

Cardio, for sure. I used to lift 4 days a week too, went down to 2.

Life got in the way, so past couple months I decided to do full body strength routine, back-to-back on Saturday/Sunday. My legs feel thrashed 3-4 days of the week, but hopefully that will be enough to maintain most of my strength.

Ok, I want someone to talk some sense into me if this seems dumb… but I’m a huge sucker for houndstooth. I have three houndstooth sportcoat/suit jackets that rotate in regularly, a black/light beige with blue squares woven in, a dark grey/beige, and a brown/cream that I’m passing down to my son because it doesn’t fit me well anymore after putting on weight (being disabled sucks). Anyway, I think I want a black/light beige (maybe even cream) houndstooth dinner jacket with black facings and buttons. I’d have to go with peak lapels, and I’d probably go double breasted (but I’d definitely get a vest if single breasted). I’m not sure about buttons or turn cuffs at the sleeves.

Is this crazy thinking or could it be pulled off and stay classy?

some ideas:

conservative options

bold option:
Typical puppy tooth wool kid mohair blend
With a black facing and black dinner trousers

With a marine blue facing and marine blue dinner trousers

Refer to his fourth comission and the below picture. Personally I've tried something similar and it feels more like a mutt jacket if anything but it has been done before. My suggestion is to get a proper rig first and then go for the fun wacky stuff once you're more comfortable in black tie and have a few similar rigs in rotation View attachment 1776524
This. As we move away from the overall rules of black tie, I believe it is best to start with the basic, and diverge as you feel comfortable. Go for style, not shock.
