Just wondering who was first? Although I do think that buttons have an advantage over a zipper when so much chest hair is involved! I do think though that Luca is trying too hard to be a fashionable counterpart to his father's more conservative way to dress (which I prefer)!

For a 3r2 with 8 cuff buttons and pants, that is a significant chunk of change... for buttons. RJW sells horn buttons that are 1mm thinner but still plenty thick (3mm) for less than a dollar each.

Consider for a moment as well that the best buttons in the world will make not a whit of difference to a poorly cut suit, which is the problem with most suits we see here. This button thing is like one of those audiophile things - like $1000 wooden knobs on your stereo player to make it 'sound' better.

Buttons and thread are the least expensive ingredients in a suit/ garment. If you buy it from the factory/ wholesale.
There is a German manufacturer in Augsburg where anyone can order (25 pieces each minimum order), prices are more than reasonable.

0.28 Euro is about $0.35 (plus VAT within Europe) or so for a 20mm button in real horn (20 and 22mm are the most common sizes for coat front buttons, 13 to 16mm for the sleeves).
Funny thing is that the plastic version costs more, although one would have to get really close to spot the difference.

But I am not sure which version (real or fake) can take more "pull"!

BTW, a craze among the kinder are these rubber bands called Silly Bandz. Last weekend, I was amused to see my son's wrists popping out of his blue blazer encircled with thirty or forty colorful rubber bands.

At that point, I realized that Rubinacci was in the house.

I tend to think Pueblo, maybe early Basketmaker II.

Nice lifestyle shot. I still like what he does with colors, but don't think it's something I could pull off nor do I want everyone to start trying. Still, it's nice that he does.
