Anyone have thoughts on the new PS x PWVC overcoat?

I've had two of the balmacaans and loved them; trying to figure out how to justify that I need this one, too.

I'd like your advice on a heavy formal
cloth choice for an Ulster coat to be used mainly with suits underneath.

I have a vintage cashmere which I find a tad too light, perhaps around 500gr. It is beautiful to the touch, but falls a bit too softly and I'd like a tad more structure/rigidity.

I have a camelhair polo coat, around 600gr, which has a nice body to it, but I find the cloth a tad too low in quality, as in that I would appreciate a bit less fuzziness if that makes sense.

I have a heavy herringbone by Fox, I think 700gr. It is wonderful in structure, but indeed it is quite cumbersome to travel with, as it would fill a cabin sized luggage when folded, so I would ideally look for something equally rigid, but thinner. The weight is not an issue.

I ordered Fox samples in the 800 range as I do need a warm coat, but I am worried that they might also be bulky.

To sum up, I am looking for a very dark blue, ie. midnight coat, that is very warm, rigid but not too heavy.

What would you recommend?

Thank you

Only appropriate answer is 1kg London lounge cashmere. Haha

All jokes aside, I’ve heard nothing but good things from the fox overcoating book.

That' what we cognescenti call a "food pantry" Polo. The look that is de rigeur
for those who line up daily to get free food at the local church. Most of us SF-types,
who can afford to feed ourselves, favor a trimmer aesthetic.

As your waistcoat buttons strain under the pressure of goose and caviar ...

thank you, which weight?
If I recall, they like the 720 gram tweed. But I’m almost universally a fan of what fox does. They’re expensive, but good.

Where can i get a duffle coat like the ones in the pictures, i looked at the gloverall monty, and it looks much shorter than the ones in the picture?
There are a lot of nice duffles on eBay. I got this Brooks one recently and love it. Might be 1990s-era BB, but I’m not positive.

Looking at this used wool-alpaca overcoat, and trying to figure out if the creases and lines running through the (slightly fuzzy alpaca blend fabric) are just from folding in storage for years, and will go away with pressing or hanging? Or if they are marks that are now pretty much permanent?

I'm thinking about making up a chesterfield coat this winter (with tone on tone velvet collar). I am thinking about these two from Fox: Large Herringbone in Midnight or Fox Classic Midnight Coating. Which one would you guys go for? The large herringbone one is slightly heavier. Would that still be suitable for a chesterfield coat? Also, would you recommend that I go with hidden buttons? :)

Don't know much about material, but man both of those are gorgeous to the untrained eye.

thabk you again, I see only a 700+ tweed and it is a twill in khaki.

Is that what you mean?

Yes I think so.

I see no reason why either wouldn’t make a stunning cost.

Great typo/Freudian slip.
Took me a second! It was a typo but an accurate typo. Perhaps it was because I was paying for a coat of my own today & it was on my mind.
