I’ve had that Bandol (the 2021) and it’s great and this reminds me I have some bottles of a CGM blend Bandol that I haven’t tried somewhere around here and I should probably try to find them.

Turtle Rock Plum Orchard (Grenache/Mouvedre)

I think Piob first mentioned them. In the general Paso fruit-forward style, but well done, if a bit pricey.

From Sicily.

Roughly 50/50 Frappato and Nero d’Avola with a small amount of Grenache. Destemmed Frappato and Grenache are fermented in plastic ‘tini’ while the Nero d’Avola is fermented in tronconic wooden barrels. Roughly 4 weeks skin contact. Pressed and blended after fermentation in cement tanks for aging through the winter. Racked at least three times before bottling. Aged for 12 months in cement tanks. Minimal added sulfur and no filtering or fining.

Currently planning a trip to Portugal in June. Been having trouble finding Portugal wines locally but will drink my fair share while over there.

My best friend at university sold his software company in London and house in the Home Counties, paid his cheating wife to leave and fvcked off to Ericeira, a fishing & surfing town an hour from Lisbon. He reports the wine is good and the living is easy. I'm seriously considering joining him (temporarily of course?)

Landed two of these this week. These were apparently released directly from the bodega. Wax capsule is in perfect condition and it's 98-99% fill still. I plan to let them rest and I'll pop one the weekend after I get back from Paso in mid-March.
