So, this isn't a 'fit pic' as such: I'm wearing a suit today, but this vintage piece just arrived so I tried it on. It's a perfect condition brown, blue and cream 100% wool Half-Norfolk jacket by long departed trad favourites, Cricketeer, with 3 flapped and buttoned pockets, action back/shoulders, back belt, and single vent. And it will only need minor modifications (sleeves and jacket length) to make it fit very well. Normally I wouldn't buy a jacket that was obviously an inch or more long, but in this case the pockets are set high enough that taking an inch off the jacket will not cause it to look wrong. I'm on record here as not being that keen on Norfolk jackets, but I think I prefer the Half-Norfolk and, in any case, when it only cost me $35 (yes, indeed), I can afford to give it a go...

Yes, it was indeed a find. Sometime on ebay the most average thing will inexplicably attract bidders like sharks to blood, but gems like this will escape notice almost entirely.

What's the name of the seller on ebay? Does he have a store?

My favorite possible sports jacket! Indeed, we are fortunate that so many 'bay trawlers are blind to such treasures. By your comment that it is too long I presume you are relatively young? If it covers your backside I would be loathe to touch the length. Of course, it was built for a man over six feet tall and you are more medium sized then shortening it to fit rather than to fashion is only sensible. Great find, FM, and a great price!

Thanks, but no, not that young (40s), just very short (5' 5", and with a relatively shorter torso than legs). I actually favour more classic length and proportions, but this really is about an inch longer even than that, alhough it's supposedly a 36S. If the pockets weren't set so high I still wouldn't even consider having it shortened, and I will be careful and consult with my tailor before doing anything, but I buy vintage to wear not to collect so I will always have things altered to fit. With the sleeves that's almost always inevitable...

Understood completely. Mine is the opposite problem. Though six feet is far from gigantic my arms are disproportionately long and sleeves must almost always be lengthened. Again, compliments on the magnificent find.
