I picked up a new tweed sports jacket last week and just wanted an opinion on something. My other tweeds are mostly Harris and so are quite coarse fabrics, hard wearing.

This one is a "Lovat" tweed, which I'd never came across before. It feels very soft, like surprisingly so. It's described as "Super 80S Lambswool".

Should I be more careful with this one? Will is stand up to wear like my Harris tweed?

The stitching and overall fit is surprisingly good for off-the-rack!

I bought this cap from David Saxby in Fulham last week. They have a surprising wide selection

I had seen this cloth previously on the Intweed website, so knew it was a heavyweight

That's a great hat!

That one is VERY nice. I love the details on it. Half Norfolk Style with Belt, 2 vents is good, can't tell if it has action back pleats. Triple patch pockets is a nice touch, throat latch (functional?), elbow patches, and bellow hip pockets, but no buttons on them. Still nice details, and something I love in my tweeds.
My sport coat is slightly snug in the chest area. How feasible is it to let it out?

I'm looking to add a bespoke jacket to my collection, can anyone recommend somewhere in the UK? A quick search took me to "intweed" but they don't seem very helpful / don't answer their emails.

This is a strange question. Any bespoke tailor can make you a tweed jacket. The questions are how much you want to pay (and whether you really mean 'bespoke' or 'made to measure' whether in person or online) and what kind of style you are looking for - because house styles vary dramatically.

By all means visit the Mearsbespoke website. Their fabric collection is excellent as it their reputation.

Well then, that is a strange reply ;)

I am looking for a recommendation from someone with hands-on experience of a service. Rather than just google.

If you want a tweed jacket made to measure what about Mears. http://bespokemears.co.uk/
I'll check them out, thank you!

I am looking for a recommendation from someone with hands-on experience of a service. Rather than just google.

And you will find recommendations for just about any of the major bespoke makers and MTM operations from someone here. What we need to know is:

1. What kind of jacket you are looking for (style, etc. - there are some tailors who specialize very much in particular areas);
2. What level of 'bespoke' are you talking about (e.g. online vs. in person; MTM vs. 'true' bespoke; fused vs. half-canvas vs. full canvas etc.);
3. Where you can travel to / what area you are looking at in Britain; and last but certainly not least,
4. What price you are prepared to pay.

Those kind of more specific details would help in being able to recommend something.

For example, if you just want a made-to-measure country tweed jacket then Mears would do, there's also Walker Slater in Edinburgh (and London) http://www.walkerslater.com/ I've also heard people recommend David Saxby http://davidsaxby.co.uk/ .

If you want something more sophisticated, you might want to consider a mid-range London tailor like Graham Browne http://www.grahambrowne.co.uk/ or Cad and The Dandy http://www.cadandthedandy.co.uk/.

A further step up is Steed, http://www.steed.co.uk/en/ and then there's places like Norton or Huntsman, if money is no object.

And so on...
