Yeah I've been lucky to find a lot of amazing stuff so I'm a bit jaded and pick up only top shelf items now.@tweedlover And I know for sure that some stores get their stock through truck deliveries rather than just donations. The smaller and more remote locations. Let’s not kid ourselves too. The lack of “good items” is always usually just competition. Someone beat you to those good items most likely.
It’s interesting because I think of a person like @impuntura who pulls consistently and great items. I highly doubt he’s going to pick up certain brands or certain things. Mediocre items are left. Decent and good items always grabbed.
Im fairly active both for resale & personal. For personal like @impuntura said I only really take the stuff that gets the blood pumping but I basically still end up hoarding an ungodly amount of stuff. For resale, I split my stuff between my own personal eBay and giving to Spoo, its a good way to make extra money (especially cause I'm still a student), cover my own purchases, and continue learning about this stuff. Are the majority of you active thrifters resellers as well or just buying for yourselves and friends/family?
Reselling helped me buy this beautyAre the majority of you active thrifters resellers as well or just buying for yourselves and friends/family?
I buy mostly for my own use but I’m always looking for something I know I will make money on if I grab it.Are the majority of you active thrifters resellers as well or just buying for yourselves and friends/family?
Yea, I know a lot of people around my age (~20s) who actively resell or ask me questions about getting into it all the time and they only do it to make a quick buck (most quit after the first week in my experience.) Of them, only a few have an interest in fashion and I’m about the only one with an interest in menswear.I think it’s hard to thrift and never resell simply because so many platforms and services make it easier than ever. However, and this is just my personal experience, this has really made the thrifting experience worse. A couple of years ago ppl in the thrifts who resold at least liked and were knowledgeable on clothing and vintage and we could always chop it up a bit. Now it’s just grind culture teens and or adults who use it as another low barrier to entry job.
I blame all the tik toks that make it seem easy for anyone to pop into a store for 3 min and find stuff they can flip for $200. Although ppl in this thread have found stuff way crazier things than I’ve seen in any TikTok or yt vid so I can’t point too many fingers.Yea, I know a lot of people around my age (~20s) who actively resell or ask me questions about getting into it all the time and they only do it to make a quick buck (most quit after the first week in my experience.) Sometimes I feel bad because I leave a lot of stuff behind that a lot of you guys would be happy to buy but it's just too much.
I'm only focussing on items that get my blood pumping leaves my place and storage uncluttered and more bang for the buck .
