I am not sure Hedi is enough to make this brand more popular.
Before Hedi I did not even know about Celine as they only did womensware and bags.
YSL is more widely known by non luxury fashion people.

Even the Paris flagship is rather empty, i've been there 2/3 times and was the only customer each time. The general stores corners are not very busy either.
A few weeks ago a SA told me that some customers complained about the price. And there is a problem with some finishes not on par with the premium image, like unbranded button, ykk zippers or thin lining.
Overall i find Celine tailoring more confortable than SLP, and much more elegant. The Vacarello faux-Slimane is horrendous.

Louis Louis that's a spot on take. I've been to the flagship store in Paris, too, with the great art, but really almost no one there shopping. Chanel had a line of people. But anyway, Celine is super elegant, but not as well known as many other brands, and I think some of the fans are finding the designs too derivative of the earlier work at SLP, as well as questions regarding quality.

First year or so was pretty slow at Saint Laurent too. I remember being able to pretty much buy whatever I wanted even quite late in the first two seasons, and stores were very quiet, whereas later on things started selling out very quickly with the stores being much busier.

Very true - while sales did incrementally increase on an annual basis, I don’t think SLP under Hedi started to gain noticeable momentum until 2015. That said, I think LVMH expected Hedi’s ability and star power to near-immediately catapult Celine to a billion dollar-plus brand. I recall reading a report in the Financial Times which claimed that Bernard Arnault had hopes to build Celine into two billion dollar brand by 2022 but we will have to wait until the end of February to evaluate the sales figures and gauge how close they are to that goal.

Does LVMH break out revenue per brand then? I imagine so. It'd be interesting to see. I wonder how Celine is doing versus Céline under the prior regime.

Picked up the macadamia python jacno 40s a couple days ago and am very pleased with them. I'd suggest trying them on in person if possible as the sizing is much different than SLP. I take a 42 in Wyatts but went down to a 41 for these and they fit like a glove.
Yo those boots are tremendous... a real standout piece.

I think it would be interesting to see but harder to interpret unless they do a further breakdown of women’s wear specifically. Obviously there was no men’s wear line in the past and now there is. From what I had heard in the past Celine’s old clientele was disappointed by the direction the women’s line was going in and perhaps sales are down in that regard

PS- How do yous rate the current 70s style leather jackets vs the SS15 whipstitch, and some of those DH biker jackets (like the 4 pocket... even the infamous L zip)?

It's been a while since I've been on here so I thought I would share the latest purchase that I'm quite happy with, the Berlin Cavalry boot in calf. I was originally after the Camargue western chelsea but saw that these were the same price, and with the added hardware the seemed a better deal. Plus it still had the western detailing which was what I was after.

I was surprised to see that these had open channel stitching unlike my Jacnos, and are made in Spain so I assume the different factories have different standards. The leather quality and craftsmanship are very similar to my Santiags from Saint Laurent albeit with a higher and chunkier heel, so I wouldn't be surprised if it came from the same bootmaker. The faux spur details is quite beautiful, and the exposed and branded zip make me think that the Berlin was inteded to be the "signature" boot model like the Wyatt harness was at SL. Though it seems the Jacno boot models are proving to be more popular with customers. Personally I find the higher heeled versions a bit too feminine, but the 3cm heeled boots and derby/oxford iterations are pretty much perfect.

I seem to recall Celine is doing a mixed fashion show. Is that not happening in January during the Paris F/W events?
