Resoling is one thing. What they appear to have done to the color is another. If you are happy, that is what matters.

^ What have they done?

How old are those, out of curiosity?  Now I don't think I would ever want Alden to restore my shell unless it were really necessary.

Why? The first pic looks terrible..I wouldn't put those in my closet...the second shot they look nice?

Is it just the sun making them look to purple in the second pic for you?

I'm waiting for Cigar LWBs as well and heard from Kathy they are months away due to the color being in very short supply (relatively speaking to exotics). They were originally meant to arrive a month ago.

Bought a pair of Cigar PTB from Wayne in Hong Kong in the mean time. Waiting for those to arrive along with Ravello LWB from AoM.

If I may ask, what are Wayne's prices like? He sure does get some great make ups, albeit in limited sizes.

Maybe it is the sun but I don't like the color. Also, it isn't like the shell is any less worn, especially on the left shoe. Maybe its the pics but there is an artificial look to it. Hey, maybe I'm totally wrong.

Anyone have care suggestions for Alpine grain? I bought these from Alden SF about 6 mos ago, just starting to break them in. Love them.

I'd suggest some better shoes trees. Those look exceptionally creased for a grained upper with six months of wear.

You will end up paying anywhere from $100-$200 more for a makeup. I paid about $150 extra for a cigar PTB. Probably should've waited for a USA retailer

I think it's because they are too big...10.5 b/d and last visit to Alden SF Robert was having me try 10EE which felt perfect. These are a little loose. I purchased the Alden shoe trees at the same time I bought these and use the trees always, except on a few overnight trips. Any more thoughts on why I'm getting these creases?

AND I have a really high instep which leaves a gap between my toes and leather upper. maybe...but I still love the shoes. lol
