Before this last run by Leffot, did they call all their grant lasted captoe boots "day trippers" or was it always only the Ravello model?

That's a good question. I thought it was only the Ravello. Maybe they are trying to get more interest by using that name???

Barrie and Trubalance 11D, I went with 11.5D on the grant. Kathy at DC seemed to come to the same conclusion when talking about her Daytrippers.

Exactly what I was thinking. Leffot markets very well. With all the pent up lust over Ravello "day trippers" why not offer up some other versions with that name.

My next question is: Anyone know where the name "Daytripper" came from??

If I wanted more flexibility in terms of dressing up/down, I'd grab the 4060 first. Can be worn with jeans or even the dressier side of business casual (and many would say a suit if done properly). But if just looking for a boot to wear more casually, I'd grab the tanker boot.

You should definitely get both as you said. : - )

I agree with @budapest12 . That is the order I went in as well. 4060 was my first #8 boot then I got the tanker later on.

It is hard to choose between them without knowing the rest of your collection and/or your intended usage.

Thanks gentlemen. I think the 4060 may be the way to first as it may be a little more flexible from dressy/casual.

That may be true, but I wear my tankers with trousers and a sportcoat to work and I think they look great. Yours may look a little better as they have the black welt/sole edge and I have the antiqued edge Leffot tankers.

I've been wondering the same thing. I think non-Alden people look at me weird when I refer to shoes as Day Trippers....
Haha! I would never use the name Day tripper in any conversation with non-Alden people. I usually hesitate on color names as well and just say "Brown" or "Burgundy".

Just curious, do you actually know any "Alden people" outside of this thread?

Other than the few local retailers that carry a very limited stock of Aldens, I don't really know anyone that is familiar with the brand.

It's better that way. Imagine what even another 10 people trying to purchase rare shells would do to availability :)

That's a bit of a loaded question, right? I would imagine most Alden enthusiasts at least have some knowledge of this thread. Would be hard to spend any time online and not discover it

Here's a question: Has anyone had a stranger approach and say "Sweet Aldens dude"?

I have twice in airports.
