I can't say its stupid. Your not polishing both sides of the belt. In addition I've got many belts over the years that have required polish to touch up and I've not run across issues with polish getting on my clothes. It's all about the process used. I always use a colored polish to get my belt scuff, scrapes and color issues resolved. I buff a lot afterwards getting any residual polish off. I finish up with a few coats of neutral polish to seal in the color. I've encountered no issues with that process. You do need to be careful, but its an option that should not be ruled out. In most cases manufacturers use polish to get the finish where it needs to be and follow up with a sealer type coat.

See Ya,
Steve
Is this process okay for shell?

Quote: IMO it should be fine provided the products (e.g. Cordovan Creme, Reno, VSC, etc...) you're using are made for use on shell cordovan.

I just bought the Ravello LHS from the TSM in 10D. I have color 8, whiskey, and black in my collection now. Need the cigar LHS but that will have to wait for now.

I think that is a fantastic make-up. Shoe Mart offers it - where I got mine from -- Ben Silver offers it in tan suede as well as snuff suede, and I am sure others, in addition to Alden DC, offer it too.

Congrats! I am only missing the black shell, I always felt it was an odd combo... What do you all think?

I personally don't think a black LHS would be useful.

Not a fan of the black LHS, but if you're in the market for a black loafer, I recommend the JL Lopez. It's pricey, but so worth it
