Yeah, if I am willing to put aside my Alden obsession for this particular use case, there are various good options. In addition to my ski boots, I have the reissued 1980s-era Danner Mountain Light boots to wear in deep snow up on the mountain, but they are stiff, heavy boots and not particularly comfortable for long drives to and from the mountains, going out to breweries, etc. I'm looking for a softer (I'm thinking Kudu or Reverse Chamois), maybe shorter (I'm thinking a 6-eye chukka would be perfect) boot that will be more comfortable for off mountain activities while still being safe and durable in snow, ice, and mud. Alden's 6-eye chukkas in reverse chamois seem almost impossible to find, but their 2-eye chukka (1272s) and Indy boots (404) in kudu with the Alden lug soles are widely available. However, I keep wondering if the Alden lug soles will leave me on the ground every time I cross a patch of ice.Have you considered trying a Red Wing Roughneck for a while? Certainly not an Alden, but I appreciate RW for what they are…
