@savvysartorial

The Alden thread has always been very active. McArthur was our resident Alden expert and uber-collector, before the Mayor @mdubs came on board. Back in those days rare shell wasn't so rare. There were some good Alden retailers back then that aren't with us anymore: Unionmade, Winn Perry, Context, etc.

The J Crew thread was always very busy, back in J Crew's golden era of 2009-14.

I remember McArthur... I saw posts from before I was a forum member... Not sure when he passed on, but I always enjoyed what I read.

Wow, J. Crew's golden era... Unreal how times change. Thanks for the throwback!

Classic Menswear goes back to March 5 2002. I'd say that is probably close to the beginning.

Awesome, thank you. So many years ago; so much has changed both here and in real life since then.

Not sure whatever happened to j, but Feb 17, 2002. He was the founder I believe. https://www.styleforum.net/members/j.269/

Fok (aka LA Guy) has a join date of Mar 8, 2002.

Interesting! I wonder how the founder just up and disappears... Yet here we still are (without him?)!

Apprently j and Fok were co-founders.

I don't think j just up and disappeared. I have vague memories of him posting he was moving on to something else.

Maiden voyage for these Humus Suede "Saunders" Wingtip Boots from our friends at Ealdwine. Loving the shade of brown in these and the contrast between this and Snuff is significant! Also, the Grant last that these are built on fit me so much better than the Barrie last and looks much cleaner.

I applaud any/ all of you who have been pulling out your arsenal during this heat/ humidity (in NY, anyway).

Wore the 911 shoes that have been on the shelf for almost a year it seems. I forgot how good these feel on my arches.

Love, love those. One of my favorite makeups and I know I might get flak for it, but think it tops the Strand.

Hampton last is my jam. Really looks good with those chinos!

I haven't been wearing shoes (and definitely not boots) lately since I rarely want to wear more than sandals when I leave the house, but I have had a couple occasions. Picked up these Plaza George boots from AoC's last call page. They're really nice! Also got the Copake Indys from AoM and I *love* them. Definitely one of my favorite buys. Also an Indy family photo because why not?

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
