Just got some new Indy’s in brown. This pair is different from a pair I had 15 years ago. The leather seems smoother, not as reddish and the lining is leather not cloth. Is this normal? I do love them and sizing from 12d to 11.5d worked out perfect. Thanks
Mine are in my bag today for a rainy day in Boston tomorrow...Rainy day boots

Me again. Here’s a picture of my feet in the Alden x BB Dovers.

You can see my pinky toes popping out a bit, but to me the shoe feels really good. I think I have the duck feet mentioned earlier on the thread. Any issue with this from your perspective or is this looking like a good size for me based on this single photo? Thanks!
They are nice, very niceThird day in a row of these bad boys
very, very nice!
Yes. That's normal. If they are brown and you got them from Alden, it's the 403 and the softness you are feeling is Chromexcel.
The ones you had before was probably the 405 which is not as smooth and has a more reddish brown leather to them.
My 403s are currently my favorite pair of shoes.
Check page one of this thread for the info on the codes. They don’t specifically tell you the last, but having the model number will help answer that question (or should for most models- special make ups might be harder to decipher).Do any of the numbers inside an Alden shoe denote the last and model number? If so is there somewhere I can go to interpret the numbers?
