Yep it was the acrylic version most often in the 80s...
It was an item worn by the 'originals' too, most probably wool at the time ?
You can hardly see the logo on the blue FP japan one. Nice.

I have seen a few pictures of Original skinheads wearing Waffle knit cardigans,but I can not remember ever seeing one worn here...not to say that they werent but I dont remember it.

Website was a bit clunky but no problems. There was an introductory discount on signing up for the newsletter. The Slazenger heritage gold v necks really are as good as the photos. Made in Portugal.

Speaking of knitwear (strange as it's damn hot here today) i spotted this FP Waffle knit cardigan

I really like the blue one, but none in my size.
The small text on the left seems to refer to SKINS who wore this kind of cardigan in the time...

How come the Japanese get all the good stuff. On the acrylic originals the grid was more defined, a materials thing no doubt. Still got mine up in the loft.

Their clothes look to be good quality but most of it was too 'country' for me,as you say the V necks,a couple of shirts and a few other items,but I do wonder who buys some of the more extreme country stuff ?  Chinese tourists maybe ? or 'eccentric academics' ?.

I picked up a few of the chunky lambs wool roll neck jumpers from them last week during their sale. Quite substantial for $29! I'm very pleased and will use them again

I was holding on to see the sale before ordering the Cardigan,guess what wasnt reduced ?...I gave up and ordered it full price,to be fair I am surprised that they can keep the price so low.

I thought of him when I looked at the House of Bruar shooting coat,plus fours and cap...that overcheck !!!!!!!

The H o Bruar stuff, Cordings, etc., have some nice pieces but yeah. Of course you need to use them sparingly and interspersed with other styles.
For instance, last night out to dinner with my wife and son, I wore an olive Cordings moleskin hacking jacket with an indigo blue linen buttondown, stone chinos, and chocolate brown Paraboot "Frenaye del Congo" oxfords. Subtle and classy with a nod to the "country look" but not out of place in Town.
However, at our St Paddy's Day parade, I wore a full Cordings 3-piece tweed suit. You can sort of get away with it here around that time of year both practically(still very cold here) and with the addition of a scally(flat) cap, almost in a costume sort of capacity.

Normally though, the Bruar, Cordings, etc., lambswool knits are my go-to's and especially in the sales, are an excellent value. Those warm brushed cotton tattersall shirts are good for falls and winters here peeking out from under a lambswool or shaggy dog knit. And hell yeah I'll even wear them with moleskin or cord trousers if I don't feel like wearing jeans!

I like grain brogues which are pretty country,so if I was wearing them I would avoid anything else to 'countrified', the same as I try not to wear more than 2 overtly Skinhead items.
I think that you are right,its getting the right combination of clothes/shoes to give you the look that you want without it becoming a uniform look ie country gent or skinhead, this is where I struggle with my Barbour jacket.

Paraboot, I have been looking at the Frenaye plain derby, of course its not available in the UK, I really rate the Michaels that I bought a while back,lovely leather and quality workmanship,Paraboot seem less formal than most of the British shoemakers but that fits in with my clothes.

They explain that Paraboot founder had rubber soles put on his shoes as soon as 1926, and it is what made the success of the brand, with the Goodyear construction or the Norwegian construction according to the models. The actual boss (the guy talking) is the grand-grand son of the founder.

Interesting video,although I didnt understand the commentary the film shows that Parabooot is a top quality shoemaker.
They make some shoes with a Goodyear welt and some with a Norwegian welt,I wonder why they use both ?.
The leather on the Michaels is so soft that they were comfotable from new,the sole did feel a bit thick and I dont wear them when i am driving.
Michaels, navy jeans,LS polo and Cardigan or Harrington my Autumn Casual look.

It depends of the models. For example 'Michaels' are known for their Norwegian welt.
The guy says they are one of the very rare shoemakers in the world still doing Norwegian welt/stitching.
