I cuff all my denim, but usually do about 3” cuffs. Its not for everyone, but I’m all in on that look.

How many folds, or Tender cuffed? Ironed or casual? How many snacks can you store in the cuffs?

Only two folds. I do like to press and iron like slacks, but it only works when the denim is fairly new and rigid. As the fabric ages it won’t hold as well. Cuff wise, about 2 ding dongs or 1 nutter butter.

Wearing the Mister Freedom 44WLs today. I like them very much, nice cast of blue to the denim, leaning a little 70s but not overly so.

I'm presently wearing them with fat cuffs, although debating whether I will have them hemmed. What are the kids doing these days?
No cuff is my preference, I prefer the streamlined look. Although with those I think a single cuff would be nice, a larger one would lean more repro and "specific" if you will.

People might think an old-timey winter Fleet Week was going on!
Do you know when the military started allowing work/fatigue uniforms off base? Just curious because it was a big no-no in my day.

AFAIK, it’s still against regs in the Marines to wear those uniforms off base except to a gas station (but even then you’re most supposed to be doing anything but getting gas) or picking up your kids from day care or school (in an emergency) and a few other very restricted situations.

According to my nephew, who is currently in, you’ll still get your a55 chewed if you’re caught off base in cammies somewhere around DC or Lejeune or San Diego/Pendleton or some other Marine sees you at a random airport in Dallas or NYC or somewhere.

When I was in and traveling and I’d be at an airport in my civilian clothes, I always thought the Army or Guard looked like trash when I’d see them at the airport in their cammies. I’ve been out 20 years now and still think that! 😅

This episode has one of my favorite Simpsons bits of all time:

The Naval Reserve - America’s 17th line of defense, behind the Mississippi National Guard and the League of Women Voters! 😂

@Mghart @whorishconsumer is it kosher to rock repro/workwear in most restaurants in NYC? I guess what I'm getting at, is are things more casual up there these days

Everyone's wearing JNCOS and thermals. So yea, pretty casual.

It's still a playground for the rich, though, so plenty of classist exclusion. Polo Bar requires a dress code.

Thanks, trying to pack light. I.e. one pair of denim, etc.

You should be good getting in most places with jeans, T and crewneck, or similar. Bring a warm jacket, however, as it's been dipping lately.

Also: NYC meetup?

I usually do my Valstar padded jacket with layers under it, since its got the fill and it weather resistant. I'm heading there for a bachelor party, so a pretty packed schedule since we are fitting in stops at the Armoury and NMWA for suit shopping. Next time I'm there for work, I'll reach out as I doubt you want to hang out with a bunch of non-Styfo dudes 😅

Bros weekend!

Pick me up a Sartoria Carrera suit while you're at NMWA.

To echo @whorishconsumer unless the place is known for a dress code, most people are out here in athleisure and street wear daily.

Temps will dip a bit in the coming week, but a cold weather jacket, long sleeves and denim should suffice.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
