Is Tailor Toyo the most reputable maker of souvenir jackets? Are there any other similar brands?

Depends on what you mean by "most reputable". You're not going to find a larger selection of that quality than what they have anywhere else really. If country of origin matters to you, note that not all tailor toyo is made in Japan. I believe most of their jackets are actually made in China, however the Kosho and Co. from Tailor Toyo are made in Japan.

They’re the brand that has the most patches and crap all over their jackets. If you like that, they’re the best.
That's the entire point? Pretty much everything they make are reproductions of original sukajan from the 1950s.

Thank you! I meant the overall quality of the jackets

It's not so much that it's steep, I think the prices are the same if you factor in exchange rate but when a pair of jeans is 48,000 yen and you make yen, you can feel it a bit more. Especially when I can get other denim brands for half that amount.

Speaking of which I finally got my jodhpurs from Brass and they were a pain to put on and once I got them on I noticed that the leather ripped. Sucks for a boot that expensive. They fit but I guess maybe I messed it up on the way in. Should've done the bag trick, I'm reaxhing out if they can assist but probably gotta take it to my local guy and deal with some unsightly stitching View attachment 2306905

New boots shouldn't tear. Stitching popping from the strain, maybe, but not a straight tear. They should repair that to new or give you a new pair.

Honestly I'm not sure what they'll say, I'm not very hopeful because they seem so hyped that I feel like they would just tell me to go kick rocks but maybe I'm wrong.

It sucks because I literally just got them and they also shipped it to the wrong address and I ended up having to go to my grandma's place to go grab it. Luckily I was planning to go but that also meant it say there for a handful of days.

I would rather they fix it like new but being that it's such a big part of the boot, I doubt they would do that. However I'd be happy for a good repair and maybe a partial refund since even if I wanted to rid myself of it, no one would buy them with this issue unless it was sold for super super cheap

Given the price point and small operation, I'd fully expect them to back the product. I agree with @whorishconsumer that they shouldn't tear like that on first try on

I wasn't expecting to like this so much but here we are with a real McCoy tanker jacket. Japanese XL fits my typically medium frame pretty well

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
