Glad to have you here @leparrain7

Love Those boots and they look good in both colours I think.

Did you use the Saphir renovateur spray on them with colour?

It will likely fade with time.

From three years ago, just out of the box: Church's Ryder, GYW desert boots in Maracca suede.

Interesting to see how the crepe soles, even though are completely white underneath, have their sides painted to dodge the ugly look they would get when dirty.

Velasca seems to do the same to the outsole on their desert boot.

Painting the edges does seem like a good idea as the light crepe does tend to get really dirty looking

The Astorflex have a crepe that is not white at all but a brown colour. It is allegedly natural plantation crepe so not sure how they are not white like most others.

How did you darken your chukka? Did you apply a wrong suede "protector"?
yes that's exactly it ...
I started by putting the Super INVULNER Saphir Médaille D'Or to waterproof the chukka, but suddenly it darkened them, then I wanted to make up for it by using the Saphir renovator, but I 'took a medium brown color which added a darker color ?, whereas it was necessary to take the light brown or tawny color ?

These seem to be closest to the original Steve McQueen model and are actually Goodyear welted although it must be hidden behind the crepe “bumper”

Thanks for the tip. I was unaware of that company trading under the Playboy label.

I found that the colour in this is much more prominent than I expected. I thought it was just a very subtle tint to enhance the colour of suede. It stains surfaces badly too.

I’m sure it must wear off with time though.

The bumper outsole on the Playboy offering is just a bit more substantial than the Sanders offering. I think the comparison of the toe box area reveals that slight difference and the heel on the Sanders model is a bit more defined than that of the Playboy model.

CXL desert boots from Crown Northampton, another small artisanal company, like Jadd Shoes. I had these made up in Navy Cavalier - similar to CXL but different. These are more traditional desert boots.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
