While I'm at it...

First, a quick PSA: Gucci: These bags are garish as hell and I wouldn't be caught dead with one. Neither should you.

Prada: Feel of quality from top to bottom, inside-out, and are smartly designed as well. Styling of course is a personal thing but I love it. Very sophisticated. Understated. Above all the Prada leather is, bar none, my absolute favorite of all the designers i've experienced.

Almost walked out the door today with this, but in blue (a blue not shown on the website): The dimensions are simply perfect; not too wide nor too narrow... just right for my frame.

Very nice! I have a Prada deerskin duffle and it is absolutely amazing. The leather lining is in a league of its own.

Where to get a decent barrel-shaped weekender below $300?

I'm a little enamored of this APC (the black version) but its 250 english pounds w/o shipping. Purchase?

I've been eyeing that APC bag since last december, but ended up getting this Ernest Alexander bag after Christmas when they had a $200 off code for purchases over $400. I'd might still grab that APC though. You should get it before I do...

need a recommendation... I need an everyday carry tote bag. Will be used to carry shoes, lunch, maybe a laptop but probably not.

Stipulations:
1. Vertical rectangle, not horizontal
2. some sort of closure like snaps, zipper, etc. I don't like people being able to see what's inside.
3. Long enough handle to put over should but not so long it drags on the ground
4. not just one large bucket, I need at least a pocket or two inside.
5. Price point around $200, maybe $300
6. Material could be cotton, waxed, pleather, etc.
7. No brand preference really
8. Colors - navy, burgundy, green, brown, black, etc. so probably darkish so doesn't look dirty.

That's a lot of rules for not much money. I'd try Banana Republic, Fossil, Jack Spade, Cole Haan, maybe WANT Les Essentiels or Ben Minkoff on sale. Coach sells some fabric totes for under $300.

I'd try to find the Billykirk 207 on sale/ebay. Found this one if you don't mind burgundy: http://www.revolveclothing.com/DisplayProduct.jsp?product=BLYK-UY58&c=Bags+%26+Wallets&s=C&d=j

Jack Spade Port Case is on the small side but the price is right.
