Auction number 8: Carmina MTO shoes!

For the eighth auction (the last one before a brief pause for the holiday weekend) our generous friends at @Carmina offered a MTO shoe (cordovan and exotic leathers excluded). You’ll be able to use the brand new 3D tool on the Carmina website, which allows you to see a preview of the final shoe throughout the customisation process.

I don’t think Carmina needs any further introduction, so let’s kick off this auction with a starting bid of $300 and increments of at least $50.

Please note that this year, all winning bidders coming in at or above retail price will also receive a rubber "Styleforum Approved" bracelet, and that at the end of all the auctions, the three auction winners bidding the most above retail will also receive a Good Art Sterling Silver rosette "rubber biscuit" from Styleforum as in special recognition of your donation.

This auction ends Thursday, December 23, at 12:00 PM PST or 10 minutes after the last bid, whichever comes later.

Remember the Ice Bucket Challenge?

The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge was transformative for the ALS Association and other ALS organizations. It spurred a massive increase in the Association’s capacity to invest in promising research, the development of assistive technologies, and increased access to care and services for people with ALS. They previously spent between $4-6 million per year on research, and they now invest between $17-19 million per year.
Since the Challenge, the ALS Association is also assisting more people with ALS. The number of people with ALS served by the chapters has increased 28% from 15,731 in fiscal year 2015 to 20,101 people served in fiscal year 2018.
In addition, The ALS Association has established more Certified Centers of Excellence and Recognized Treatment Centers.
With these improvements came new costs, and while the Ice Bucket Challenge significantly increased the number of donations made to support the cause, the ALS Association is currently relying on deficit spending.
