Was the marbled/antique look done by hand or was the hide already finished like that? While not something I would wear, I can still appreciate the execution of these handsome looking boots! Never seen anything quite like em!

They were crust leather. Greg Park aka Hancore did the dye job on them.

Extra deep dark cognac HM on dainite.

My last day working before break. Hope all my fellow weasels have a happy holiday season. Cheers to good times, good friends, good food, and exceptional footwear.

Did you order them this way or did you dye the welt and edges? I have them, but my pair has the standard light colored welt, and have been thinking of dying them to the antique color. I normally love a contrasting welt, but would prefer the antique with this particular pair.

Love the color on yours. Wish my cognac wasn't so dark. My welt came with the darker color. Don't recall if they were from a TS or the tail end of the "if you know someone" MTO era. Certainly before they were a stock option, shortly after the kudu HM GMTO was organized.

Been holed up inside since Saturday due to negative temperatures and WFH. Who wants to go out anywhere in those kinds of BS temps? Aside from slip ons to take the dog out to the back yard about a bajillion times a day, I've been mostly in slippers. Since we're supposed to hit double digits on the positive side of the thermometer today, I figured I should boot up to take the dog for a walk at some point. Freeport snuff suede got the call for today. One of the few pairs of boots I didn't do any maintenance on during the long weekend since I'd already sprayed them with protectant back in November.

I was shoveling about 5 or so inches of snow yesterday and decided to use my pair of Rockies. Decent enough boot and for walking around when snowy or icy it is just fine. If you are actually trudging through the snow, I don't think anything offered by AE is good. Wearing it again today to go into work where it's a good choice with the artic sole.

Once the boot is covered in snow you can feel cold seeping in from the instep and I'm sure water would work its way in as well.

Anything more than a couple of inches I'll stick with my Columbia Bugaboot.
