I have a sample of Diptyque Tempo. Man, this is some weak ****. Smells great when I could smell it in the opening, but this is pretty much undetectable after 15 minutes. I know this is common with Diptyque, but come on man, this is a joke.

Anyone own or been able to sample the perfume line from Buly 1803? Mr. Porter and a few boutiques sell some of their grooming items but they seem to like keeping their perfume exclusive to brick & mortar stores.

Eau d'Hermes. It's one of my first perfume loves, and I still enjoy it very much.

I wore Terre d'Hermes today, a bottle dating back to 2005 or 06, and was in an environment where I could get away with wearing five sprays. It's been a long time since I've worn it because it was ubiquitous about ten years ago and I just seemed to forget about it, but boy is it a fantastic orange and vetiver fragrance.

Even though he's kinda contemptible, I bought another Galliano for Dyptique candle recently. And I forgot how much I liked it. Does anyone have any rec's for a fragrance in that style: smokey (but not too much), a little sweet (but not too much) and leathery (but not too much)? Maybe a little powdery as well.

I finally watched “The Nose” on Vimeo and enjoyed it very much. I can appreciate that Nasomatto has been around for 10ish years and Alessandro has only made roughly the same number of perfumes. I like that they showed he could not find real sandalwood in India (though they were in bazaars) but found a cache of top grade material in Oman. At his price you hope for natural oils and such but now I understand it isn’t possible if you want to be able to make that perfume available for more than a limited time.

I don’t own anything from Frederic Malle yet but one thing I appreciate about the brand is that to the best of my knowledge, in its almost 20 year existence nothing has been discontinued. Only thing I’ve worn by them is Parfum de Therese which I love the story of, but it wasn’t for me. I smelled The Night a year ago and it is still in my memory. I’m excited to explore the brand in time.

I wore from a sample vial Hacivat by Nishane a couple times this week. I wasn’t a fan when I first got the sample but I’m glad I revisited it. It has a musky/musty fruit accord. It gets associated with Aventus which I haven’t tried yet but want to if it is similar.

I haven't smelled much from them either. I've only smelled Musc Ravageur, Geranium Pour Monsieur, and French Lover. Can't remember what French Lover was like, but I think I liked it. Geranium Pour Monsieur was great though, but Musc Ravageur was hard to digest.

Oooh, thanks. The description sounds great. I'm not sure I'm fancy enough for Louie the Sun King. Hahah! Do you know if there is a parfum of Solis Rex, or is it just a candle?

I followed the link for Olivia Giacobetti who made the JG for Diptyque. She also created Costes which I really like. And Passage d'Enfer which also sounds like it could also be a condender for what I'm looking for. @Baron I believe you have the JG room spray. Do you ever wear it on your skin or clothes?

Sultan Pasha Pure Incense (his website seems to also call this one just "incense" now.) Like some other incense frags, but more resinous.
