Hey guys sorry for yet another sizing question but I'm buying a L17 in calf leather and would really like your help. I tried a 42 and 44 and I'm right in between. 42 is really tight around the armpits, bit uncomfortable, and harder to move, but looks very nice and fitted. 44 feels more comfortable but the arms look looser. What size do you think I should go for? How much does the jacket stretch? If I size down will it get comfortable after wear or should I just be safe and size up?

Tight, uncomfortable, and you can't move means it's too small. A leather jacket is meant to conform to your dimensions, not stretch to them. What's the point of having a jacket that you can't move around in, unless you're a mannequin.

Leather jackets are always tricky as the material doesn't fit like any other. There will be some stretch but it has to be workable from the get go or else it won't ever fit the way you want. I wouldn't compromise on functionality for looks. You will end up not wearing the jacket in the long run if it's too tight.

To add to what's been said about leather jackets and fit: it's not my impression that Saint Laurent leather jackets are intended to fit like Julius, Rick Owens, or other brands where a skin-tight fit is the intent from the start. Compared to those designs SLP riders are almost boxy. It won't look good if there are visible lines of tension where it's pulling at your body.

Picked up the basic 2 cm roller buckle belt. Very pleased with this. I have the original 2 cm geometric belt from SS 13 / AW 13, but I've hammered it almost daily for years, and so I really wanted something similar to keep for best. It has pretty similar dimensions, and is similar in that it is a basic understated design, and so it does the job as a replacement. The lamb is also very nice with a soft hand - very luxury feeling. I'd prefer the buckle to be a chrome finish rather than an aged finish, but that's minor. It's also made of two pieces stitched together in the centre to cut costs, but I don't care about that sort of thing.

I like that belt Kieran! Interesting notes about the construction, but the style is perfect.

I wore my corduroy blazer today with the leather elbow patches today.
