Certainly not, that is the beauty of English shoes! Timeless, subtle, soft, supportive and durable. They should last you quite a long time.

Marno76, wear them, these shoes should last you 5 to 10 years if taken care properly, and you may consider topy too.

And there is nothing shows more class than a well worn highly polished black cap toe in a wedding! Or any other appropriate occasion.

Words from someone who knows a little about the black cap toe.

Every Northhampton shoemaker has been increasing prices over the course of the past decade. EG, JL, and G&G were all well under $1000 USD a decade ago (well with G&G starting in 2008).

It seems normal a price incresase over a decade, but 100 pounds over 270 in the last 3 years seems uncommon. The question is, do you think a C6J Chelsea 3 at 370 pounds is becoming an overpriced product?

Is there a good place to buy them cheaper?
It is for the 325 last.

I use Woodlore Epic trees on my 325; I got them from some SF sponsored retailer but I can't remember (sold shoe trees and other cedar accessories). I've tried the BG trees in the 325 but the do not seem to fit well in them.

I prefer CJ shoe trees. For my 325s, I found the CJ shoe trees fit better than the Epic. But for my Islay, 365, I prefer the Epic. Better prices when you purchse them from the UK, that is without custom or fees.

Like three years ago I had bought a pair of C&J Connaught black (the quintessensial black tie shoes IMHO).
I never put them on cause I did not want to ruin them (I hoped I will be using them for my wedding but a spouse never came along....).
Anyway one month ago, realizing I was not going to get married anytime soon I decided to put them on.

Cheer up amico mio!

You still have a wonderful pair of shoes to wear.

Can you only but C&J online from Barney's in the US? I don't live anywhere near a C&J store, but I'm tempted to one day make a trip just to check them out and ensure proper fit/sizing.

Are there ever any regular sales for C&J?
