Certainly not, that is the beauty of English shoes! Timeless, subtle, soft, supportive and durable. They should last you quite a long time.

Marno76, wear them, these shoes should last you 5 to 10 years if taken care properly, and you may consider topy too.
And there is nothing shows more class than a well worn highly polished black cap toe in a wedding! Or any other appropriate occasion.
Every Northhampton shoemaker has been increasing prices over the course of the past decade. EG, JL, and G&G were all well under $1000 USD a decade ago (well with G&G starting in 2008).
I just use standard shoe trees on my pair.
Is there a good place to buy them cheaper?
It is for the 325 last.

Like three years ago I had bought a pair of C&J Connaught black (the quintessensial black tie shoes IMHO).
I never put them on cause I did not want to ruin them (I hoped I will be using them for my wedding but a spouse never came along....).
Anyway one month ago, realizing I was not going to get married anytime soon I decided to put them on.
I use Woodlore combination cedar trees in my 325's. Pick them up from Nordstrom Rack for ~$10
