Hey everybody,

Was the RL x C&J Marlow an RL exclusive only, or was it a rebranded existing C&J model?

Years ago we did a GMTO where we spec’ed a Marlow in whiskey cordovan. What we received was labeled as a Pembroke and we were told that’s because the Marlow name is for RL. They are almost the same as the Marlow but the brogue holes are slightly larger than on Marlows. So they are slightly different.

Also, I saw that C&J are offering a Lindrick 2 now as one of those limited special models. 🤷‍♂️

Do you know what soles Crockett & Jones offering for MTO boots? I am looking for waterproof sole for my next MTO casual chelsea boots. I already have boots with Dainite, and I am not their fan in wet weather so looking for alternative. City sole looks too thin and dressy IMO. If there was thicker version of city sole it would be great. I also like crepe sole but I am not sure if CJ offers it.

I would advise against crepe soles, they don't perform well in wet conditions, very slippery.

In comparison with other ones, pictured in this thread, the Scotch Tan Grain on yours has a lovely yellow shade I really love.

Yeah, it's lovely, isn't it? 🌞

It was mighty sunny around 11:30 am and the photo is white-balanced, so pretty much true to colour. It's mostly the gorgeous light here.

That Pembroke above is the one I had treated as shown some weeks ago with the neutral cream. It was worn 2 summers and hadn't been treated before.

For reference - hours later in cloudy light - here it is on the left. The Pembroke in the middle is a new, unworn one and the one to the right has still a slight hue from the 'Light Hazelnut' Saphir 1925. Which I didn't like in the end, so I took it mostly off with Renomat and applied a little bit Renovateuer (to compensate for Renomat drying-out the leather) and then applied neutral cream.

Thank you for advice, so do you have any recommendation instead of Crepe? I like that it is more light weight than Dainite at least.

Don't know about the weight (it will probably be the same), but you could try Ridgeway and Medway, also produced by Dainite. I read many comments in favour of Ridgeway over Dainite (seems softer and more comfortable).

I have the Galway boot by Edward Green on the Ridgeway sole, but it's relatively new and haven't worn my pair in wet conditions.

I think I've spotted the difference!
The one on the left is...on the left. The other two are not.

You clearly and unmistakably love the model and the leather, but why three pairs?
