CF Stead Repello is a split suede, although a high-quality one. I sent an email to C&J a while back specifically asking about the Lanark 3 in brown suede. Their response, “The suede on the Lanark is split calf suede.” (I was also surprised at split suede). FYI, C&J’s handgrade line uses un-split reverse suede.

I still enjoy the split suede Lanarks and find them to be of excellent materials and construction.

Good description of a similar footshape. I'd rate 4497 my favorite, and 325 my second favorite out of 10-15 or so different lasts. Appears I now need a C&J on the 365 last to confirm.

Unfortunately this is only used in boots and not shoes (I like boots, but don't wear them too often).

You can still make special order for shoes with 365 if you want. I will do it as well in future.

I stopped by the CJ shop on Jermyn Street today to check out a few models from their winter collection. The main ones I was interested in were the Kelso, Elgin, and then the Chepstow. I already own a dark brown suede derby boot in the Eskdale 2, so I wasn’t sure if getting something so similar made sense. However, I ended up really liking the Chepstow, especially since it’s on the same last as the Eskdale.

I also have a dark brown suede chukka boot, so I’m leaning towards getting the Chepstow in mushroom suede instead. One thing I don’t understand is the pricing – the espresso suede version is £545 (same as the leather version), but the mushroom suede is £475. Does anyone know why there’s such a difference in price for the same boot in different suede colours?

Hi, all. I know the toe box is wider in 335, but are there other differences from 325? Specifically, do we think 325 and 335 are the same length?

Pulled the trigger on Ascott 2 model. Really love the silhouette of these shoes. The last is round but not too round. Pointy but not too pointy. The price is not the lowest but even at £830 it feels like a lot of shoe for your money when Alden’s LHS loafer is £900+. Burgundy tone here is touch lighter than Alden but very versatile nevertheless - try against a few pairs of trousers (black/blue denim, grey flannel, beige chinos) and looked really good. I really like how rich the leather is - put against some brown shades but just can’t compare.

My initial experience with shell and rain (as that is something I was concerned about) is still pending final conclusion. In a very very light rain, white spots have developed easily. At the same time I was able to wipe them off with a damp towel. Let’s see how they perform in more rain.

Other than that the leather feels stiffer than calf to start. The last and shape feel extremely comfortable in terms of sizing and width (e.g. Courteney 9s are still narrow for me after over a year), but the shell does feels less pleasant to have your foot wrapped around than calf (maybe a personal preference; maybe will soften somewhat after some time).

Anyway, thought I will drop my 2 cents as it is a new model (surprised to see some sizes are already ot of stock).

Question for you CJ boots lovers. Would you guys wear brown Conistons or Skye boots to Western/cowboy themed stuff?

I don't look at them as cowboy boots by any means, but do they fit the Western theme?

Conistons maybe. Wingtips definitely not.
