With all the great makeups available, I often overlook the first pair of Conistons I ever picked up (Teak Oiled x Sky Valet DC)… all it takes is one wear to remember (again) why I originally liked them so much…

I am now curious... Have C&J ever done a red/burgundy/oxblood rough out suede?

Teak oiled may be the leather with the most appealing patina development, IMO. High on my wish list. Exposed eyelets, Ridgeway… I once tried proposing it for a GMTO but, alas, there were no takers.

I would be in if we were talking about #375 last and 270° welt?

I’m a big fan of the 270 welt but, easthetically, I think this leather goes better with a 360 or a storm welt.
I do not like the look of stormwelt and 360° welt. The only exception is 360° veldtschoen on Snowdons.

I am out if it is not 270° welt and #375 last. as I have narrow feet and need to have locked heel, waist and low instep. Open to any sole, eyelet & hooks combination etc.

Conistons today, bought last year and still kind of wearing these in. These had an unfortunate quality issue, serious tongue slipping to the side on both boots. You could see that the hide just pushed strongly to the side. Tongues went completely to the side and made the boots uncomfortable to wear and kind of ugly looking as well. Not the first boots with this issue I've had and they were easily fixed by my local cobbler, you can see that the tongue has been fixed to the inside uppers at about the second uppermost speedhook. Nice work, stiching is exactly where the original stiching was so can't really be seen. Now much more comfortable to wear.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
