I recently won a Tumi formula T briefcase on auction at Ebay.

This is my first time purchasing from the brand and would like to know a couple of things from Tumi users:

1. Is Tumi counterfeited/faked like other brands?

2. How do I differentiate a fake from an original (if applicable to question 1)

3. Do all Tumi bags come packed in a cardboard box labeled "Tumi" (I see this a lot on Ebay auctions)?

i have a tumi duffle/weekend bag.

they are faked as most high end items are.

you can tell if it is real as there should be a metal barcode inside of the bag. contact tumi with the code and they should be able to tell you if its the correct code. also, tumi is pretty high quality, so you should be able to tell if the bag just doesnt look/feel/operate properly.

couldn't tell you about the packaging. i purchased mine from a tumi authorized luggage store that was going out of business. no box or other packging was with the bag.

Okay. I agree, although Tumi is now made in China right?

crap. I tried googlig "fake Tumi" and came up with 2 discussions on the brand in purse forums. Members there stated that they haven't spotted a fake Tumi yet.

I guess this forum debunks it.

So, the ones I see floating around in Ebay 99% are fake?

Yes, I saw a lot of Fake Tumi, especially in Asia. The price is about US$10 to US$50 depending on the quality. They will tell you that they are fake, and the quality is very poor. You can tell right away. The quality of other Fake Luggage is surprisingly good.

Tumi is kinda a cheap brand. Like worrying about getting a knock off shirt from the Martha Stewart Kmart collection.

I've had a Tumi ballistic nylon computer bag since 1999 and it has held up very well. Much better than the high end leather briefcases I have had.
