You're not too old...no matter what your age. 90% do look ridiculous! I can't believe the SF community doesn't rip them apart! :foo:

What do you need to attend Pitti? Or is it open to the public?

If not, I assume a press pass is the minimum req.

Well, I was going to get to the press room to find some faster wifi, but time really ran away, and when we realised that the clock actually was 5:45, it was too late to get it done (they closed at six).

I have taken a LOT of pictures, so there will surely be some material to keep this thread going. It's a mix of really great stuff, and of course a bit of... well, other stuff.

I may be too old for this stuff - 90% of those people look ridiculous to me....
shog[1].gif

I think that they look ridiculous to pretty much everyone, but that's the point. These people are deliberately dressing outrageously so as to get attention, so as to stand out.

Of course, when everyone is dressing like a clown, you need to dress even more outrageously so as to attract attention, hence the entirely unbuckled double monks, the calf-length trousers in a bright red tartan-like check, the overcoats flung over the shoulders, the capes, the huge lapel flowers, the ten bangles on the wrists and so on and on.

I've got to give this guy from the NY Times gallery props, though, as I've never ever seen a tweed onesie before:

When will the visible ankle trend die? ****.

All trousers should have the proper amount of break!

I suppose that you could, but that would be missing the point. It would be like complaining that the water is wet. You sorta just gotta sit back and enjoy it.

It is really, really, crowded, this year, though. A monster show in Berlin was cancelled, so a lot of brands and buyers who would otherwise not attend, did. It's been impossible to navigate.

Agreed, super busy. Almost too busy. But a great show. Thanks @LA Guy and the rest of the SF team for taking such good care of me. Met so many great people.

Visible Pick Stitching on Lapels and Pockets

  • It’s a mark of quality and craftsmanship

  • I like it when it’s subtle

  • I don’t like visible stitching

  • Doesn’t matter to me
