I believe it. It's a shame though, they then miss the real story. There was a group of seven of us standing around chatting, a photographer I know was taking pictures of our shoes. He had been told to take pictures of broguing. Only Eric and I were wearing shoes with any. The other five were wearing light colored suede loafers. Where do you think the real trend was?

Coincidentally, I am wearing my white bucks quite a lot recently.

I wonder if the content of the fashion/style section of the NYTimes is influenced by what their advertisers want. I heard that's what happens with the NYTimes real estate section.

the guys in the vest, henley, pants, and plimsoles, dresses like an extra in a Prohibition era mob picture. There seemed to be a lot more of that "ye old workwear" look.
Seems like Ethan has been trying to get this style going for ages now

Tough job going to Florence, Italy....this bring a free association to mind, from the great Bill Shankly:
Pressure is working down the pit. Pressure is having no work at all. Pressure is trying to escape relegation on 50 shillings a week. Pressure is not the European Cup or the Championship or the Cup Final. That’s the reward.

Thank you for your wonderful contributions to the thread. BTW, I've actually worked "in the pit" with underpaid physical labor to get through university. Going by your attitude, I get a feeling you haven't.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
