Meermins customer service came trough and made me happy. Thanks to another poster that pointed out mistake in description, because other boots does say soft leather toe puff, but this one says reinforced toe puff. I'll get extra discount due to website mistake, they still confirmed that those "cracks" is veins, normal and nothing to worry about, however we seem to have agreed that if within 2 years (I have 5 pairs of boots so they have little wear) thongue will need fixing, they will take care about me but I will return the extra discount I'll get.
Good to hear that.

It’s pretty simple, if one doesn’t like the product, one shouldn’t pay for it. A product is 100% worth what one is willing to pay for it.

Question regarding the NEGON last.

Anyone have experience of the C&J 325 last that their Coniston boot is made on. Is fit similar to NEGON.

I'm a UK 8 in the 325 last but wondering if I might need to size up to 8.5 uk in Meermin as I'm reading that Meermin are narrow. Have never bought from Meermin.

I've just tried Conistons on once, and I remember them feeling tighter than some of my Meermin, and NEGON is definitely not narrow

I can JUST squeeze into my Conistons in 8E, generally prefer Church's sizings in 8G and when I could source seconds in the early 2010s I could go up to 8.5F in their 103 and 173 lasts. I also have a couple of Aldens in US9D, Tremont and Barrie last that fit fine.

Am interested in the Meermin Burgundy Cordovan boots they have on the European site. They don't have 8E, just 8.5E.

Would you describe NEGON as a generous last?

To each their own is correct, subjectivity. Have you heard of BLKBRD or CNES brands? Recently I spent most of an afternoon at the CNES showroom in Singapore. This was to examine their products firsthand. The basic entry line isn’t more or much more expensive the Meermin. However, the quality and workmanship far surpasses that of Meermin.
Each of us is free to spend our money as we wish to, that’s a fact.

The things that have made me go with BLKBRD over Meermin repeatedly are that BLKBRD does custom sizing, stitching, welting, and leather selection and has better customer service. Every pair of BLKBRD boots that I have fit perfectly out of the box, though their loafers are best ordered a half size down. The last thing I want to deal with is trying to return a pair of boots to a company that doesn't want them back.

Friends, this is the third time I buy meermin shoes this year… I’ve been using rod and hok shoes over the years without problem. This year I bought 2 rod and 1 nova, I couldn’t even put my feet it… heel pad in the last Chelsea I bought is so stiff it hurts even sitting down, I even sized up.

Is it me or is there something changing?

Exactly, very well said. I’ve had excellent experiences with BLKBRD. As I’ve previously said, not so with Meermin.

I would say that it’s not you. You probably got lucky with your first purchases. Meermin’s shoes were always notoriously stiff * Valdamir Riche YouTube. However, in my recent experience the qc has really deteriorated. Absolutely the customer service experience for has been iabysmal. When you’re own staff at the NYC retail store agrees with this opinion, that’s saying something!
Customers aren’t always right . They’re people, aren’t perfect and can make mistakes. However, when the company blames their own ineptitude on the customer, it takes my opinion of this manufacturer down to another level, arrogance & stupidity.

Based on my experience the stiffness depends on the tannery, any du puy calf used to be an absolute pain for me, except on negon. Kudu, suede or calf from Annonay are all much more supple

Negon feels wider to me but also flatter, it has a lower instep and works best for me compared to HOK which feels too big, but I had varying experiences with that last which was ok on calf and too big on kudu

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
