I just received an email from Nina Penlington (head cutter) that she's leaving Edward Sexton. She's starting something new on her own. She is very talented and super nice. I am sure it's going to be amazing. I asked to be added to her notification list.

That’ll be the second year in the row that Edward Sexton has to scramble to replace their head cutter. Wonder what’s going on behind the scenes with Nina.

No wonder a while back i got an equivalent to “out of office” email when i sent to her ES address

Hum maybe but I would still think French is still more noticeable notch than this

I've seen Smalto notches that look pretty similar to this, basically a notch lapel that decides it wants to peak halfway down

An incipient frogmouth lapel with a side of belly.

I find the jump from narrow to wide visually jarring, but maybe because I’m not used to it.

That ES is basically horizontal, in my head this is french

Yes that Smalto is close to what I had in mind, the notch is deeper too but I'm sure I've seen ones closer to the ES, certainly in their rtw stuff at least

I love it too. However, I have a question about the "mixed messaging" - for lack of a better term. The peak lapel and single button seem to point towards a more formal style. However, the large patch pockets are more informal.

Isn't it a bit confusing or is that just the ES style - to challenge. See the discussion about the "transition" lapels.

Scrolling through their website I'm not sure I like the SD peak lapel jackets at all. Just big statement pieces like Tom Ford. The DBs are better although the outsize pocket flaps make them statements as well.

Of course, Sexton and Nutter got famous for making statement pieces.

The current ES is kind off vs what Nutter did though. I don’t know how to say it other than it remind me the old Superman look.
