Re Kimber squares: The bases are a flat, neutral white, and the images are large scale while leaving much of the base visible. That generally makes it possible to show more color/pattern or more white depending on mood and level of formality. Because the patterns are large scale and architectural, what tends to be visible in a pocket are irregular color shapes that complement most tie patterns. The colors are also neutral so they can be matched with warm and cool palettes. The wool-silk blend isn’t shiny and has a bit of texture. So, if you’re thinking about a spectrum of textures in your combination, the square complements madder, other smooth silks, and wools with texture.
