OMG that funny. I think MFA is a bit too ok with mall brands and I think that’s fine when people just wanna dress a certain way and don’t geek out about leather/denim like here.

All saints does suck and I don’t think anyone here would say otherwise.

But hey if someone wants it go for it.

lol i remember few years ago the prom thread would have solid advice like pointing them to benjamin sartorial suit, nowadays i could've swear people would've suggested h&m.

probably have a lot to do with the amount of subscribers too (the amount of #menswear youtuber didn't help either). i mean, few years ago schott was considered the minimum for good leather jackets. nowadays topman and some obscure leather jacket brands using overly corrected leather with hardware that's even cheaper than ykk are suggested because "it fits with people's budget"

it's almost like the whole place is not about fashion as a hobby anymore.

yea but everything that suggests anything beyond frugal option is now considered snobbish and get downvoted. i used to go there to learn the difference between the creme and the crap, but now i can't anymore.

would be nice if the contents are available both for the enthusiasts and for the beginners. because right now everything is in the beginner-sphere and people don't want to bother to get out of their shell and downvoting everything that shows them that a better option exists.

Yea I noticed that in the best item for X amount and I saw that in many ranges they threw a lot of brands that I know to be sub par per Sf.

I did not realize a lot of this had to do with things being too expensive for the avg person and I guess male fashion advice is about the right fit more than the item. Whereas Sf is a bit of both.

I know I’ll spend more than the avg person on certain items don’t get me wrong I like my uniqlo basics but I also like my kick ass leather jackets n boots.

yeah me too lol, i wear a lot of qlos. but not acknowledging everything that exists beyond your price range feels like burying your own head in the ground.

anyway, i think this convo should continue in pm. i do have a few things to ask you. do you think sf pm or reddit pm would be better?

The issue lies not with MFA, but with this forum imo: it makes one lose track of how much most people are willing and/or capable of spending on clothes.

A $600 leather jacket (think AllSaints) is considered to be an expensive investment piece by most people; here it barely qualifies to be worth discussing.
