Hey guys,

This is a question about leather jackets. For context, I'm very sensitive to cold and live in London (UK). I already own a biker jacket from the kooples which I can basically wear most days from June'ish til August (except for this year, but that's another story), but even with layering it's tough to wear it when the temperature drops to around 15C and below.

Over the next 12 months, I'm going to be buying two more leather jackets to account for the variety of temperatures here. I'm planning on getting a Schott B3 in late November for the winter, but I'm also looking for something to get me through the very, very frequent periods of mild (8-18C) and gray weather.

I've discovered that the A2 and G1 look like the 2 best models for London's sort of temperature, but I'm a bit overwhelmed by the variety of options on the high street and from specialist makers like Schott. Does anyone (ideally UK based) have a catch-all jacket that would work for business casual outfits (i.e. over a denim/white dress shirt and chinos), ideally a little bit on the heavier rather than lighter side (summer nighttime temperatures are still 10-12C)? My budget is around £500 or so.

It looks like the 184SM (https://www.silvermans.co.uk/collec...tt-184-military-jacket?variant=19849424699446) could be wearable all-year round in London. Does anyone have any experience with this? Do you guys think that I should get this instead of both the B3 and an A2/G1 for maximum versatility? Thanks!

I'm all ears!
Well I am in the Yorkshire Moors and I wear an upmarket Harrington. I just received a Private White VC and previously had a Grenfell. When it's very cold I would wear a Pea Coat, but now have two Abraham Moon Car Coats by Douglas.

A Schott B3 costs way more than £500 as you must know, so your budget is unrealistic. And if you’re in the UK why would you buy American-made Schott instead of Scotland-based Aero Leather? (In my opinion better quality, same price range.)

Seconded. I lived in San Francisco for 20 years before moving to London, had a number of bespoke jackets made by Johnson Leathers, and the owner there spoke reverently of Aero. A jacket maker's jacket maker, so to speak.

What about the companies that made the Indiana Jones leather jackets. Wested of Kent and Tony Nowak Originals.
