i feel you man. tomorrow im having "that talk" with the girl im seeing. apparently she wants a serious relationship but i dont. we havent even broached the subject because she knows im not ready for one. today a mutual friend told me that the girl im seeing really wants the relationship to be more than just random meetups after work. I care about but i just dont want anything serious

my better half and I have had plenty of long-distance stuff, sometimes for many months and across oceans. It takes a certain amount of trust, but was never a problem for us. Similarly, we've had many mutual friends go through the same thing and in my observations "almost always won't work" was certainly not applicable to them.

Tomorrow is the start of the 10th month that I've been in a "long distance" relationship .. away for grad school .. in the process of finding a job that may extend the long distance thing another year - and not looking forward to what happens if/when I get this job.

Namor, I think women have this innate sense when it comes to breakups coming from guys. My G/F has been doing this for the past week. Hell, I don't even know if I will get the chance to have the talk tonight. Trying to be respectable and do it in person, but at this rate, might have to send an email. Voicemail. Text. Sing-a-long Telegram. Hahaha.

Imhoff, I suggest you utilize the fade-away break-up. No talk involved. All you have to do is ignore her calls, text messages, emails, etc. Hopefully, she'll get the hint after a week or two.
