What I figured...so it would need an overcheck on top of the houndstooth...
No, you would need it to be without houndstooth.
One of our reviewers recently reviewed the Malloch's Seaweed Newman Roll Neck Jumper. Check out his thoughts on this modern contemporary version of the British submariner jumper here.

No, I think that you used this forum correctly. - B
Also, can you guys point me to any resources to learn the names and characteristics of fabrics and patterns? I have most of flusser's books and I don't recall it ever being covered in great detail.
Assuming you've sufficiently justified your desire to know, track down a copy of The Elegant Man, by Riccardo Villarosa and Giuliano Angeli. It has a pretty comprehensive discussion of various fabrics with closeup pictures of each.

Maybe there should be severe penalties attached to failures to justify questions. Could you explain your demerit system to us?
^I pulled out my copy to look through it again last night. Some of the clothes are somewhat dated, but it has information in it that the other books don't cover with the same detail. It's worth having.
No, you'd need to lose the "teeth". The lines need to be straight. Like gingham or shepherd.

It's worth having. I have no demerit system, well other than putting some people here on ignore. I can't do that to you or I'd miss half the posts on the forum.
How about this one?
