It's not that it is not possible, they just won't do it. Guess they've had issues with leather tearing, but I'm not sure. Why is it not possible to resole veldt boots?
One thing i can think of is that it's similar to stitchdown where you ideally stitch the same holes by hand, as to not punch new ones. Why is it not possible to resole veldt boots?
In general, yes. The better hides these days are being sold to luxury automakers and such. Footwear is much further down the lineEG for RLPL made in 2007 called the "Barend"
Were the leathers better in the "olden days" compared to today?
You pay the full amount to the retailer holding the trunk show before your order is confirmed. For anyone who has been to an Edward Green trunk show recently, can you share the latest details about prices with MTO? Apologies if it has been recently covered before.
Do you pay an initial deposit and then the remaining balance when the shoe is ready? Or is the full amount due at the time of order? I’m sure it depends on the types of leather and details, but roughly how much more is MTO compared to a RTW shoe?
I’m interested in the Dover or Montpellier. I’m hoping to figure out the right size during an upcoming trunk show.
I saw that in a Leffot email. Some crazy brouging on that shoe. At $2,250, it’s not an option for me.Leffot appears to have a really nice looking burgundy cordovan oxford for their EG trunk shows. Is anyone getting it? I think I want to live vicariously.
I took the train up a few months ago when visiting from Australia. In the most common sizes there was mainly black oxfords and what most would perceive to be less desirable makeups (brighter green/yellow/orange suedes etc). I probably wouldn't go again. As a tourist traveling from London, is it worth the train ride to Northampton to go to the factory shop during days when there are no extra promotions? Looking for size 6.5 wide shoes and country boots.
