...and must be abolished. Seriously, what's the point? If it's better to have more daylight then just move the clocks forward year round. As someone who works with people in Arizona and in different countries (some of whom observe DST but never at exactly the same day, it's an unnecessary and infuriating complication....

They've proven it doesn't actually save that much energy at all, which was the point of introducing it in the first place. Combined with all the annoyances it causes we can do away with it imo.

We didn't have it in Indiana until a few years ago. It was fine with me, but it kept people not familiar with these parts confused as to the time here.

I have a standing weekly meeting with people from, among other places, Phoenix (no DST) and Sydney (DST changes are a few weeks off the US). It's hard enough scheduling anything between the West US and Australia without this ******* bullshit

DST makes sense at higher latitudes (45th parallel and up, I would guess). Without it, the sun would rise at 4AM during the summer. Switching back to standard time before winter is essential unless you like having breakfast in the dark.

I love DST. After I get home from work there's still enough daylight to actually enjoy being outside. Can usually get in a fully round of golf after work in the summer.

You can have my DST when you pry it from my cold dead fingers.

I remember reading about various alternatives not only to DST but to our antiquated 24 hour time system with a "beat" system that divided the day into 1,000 beats and entirely did away with sixty minute hours and all this garbage we have to put up with. A metric system for time, if you will. I always liked the sound of that and would definitely prefer it to this mess.

I mean, seriously, if we were starting over and building a system for measuring time from scratch 60 and 24 would not be our base system.

What's wrong with relying on the Babylonian base 60 system for counting time?

I don't mind the switching or not switching as I've always had to deal with it. But the new legislation in the last decade where America and its neighbours roll forward or backwards earlier than the rest of the nations around the world is maddening. I'm no longer 5 hours apart from London now, but only for a few weeks. Try setting up meetings or a work schedule with people overseas.
