I dig those French style ones too. We had a thread about that style of boots in SW somewhere where I dug up some other ones in that style, Israeli I think.

repro American style, made in Mexico, $99 and supposedly very good reproductions (similar to what my grandfather wore)

You can also find them on evilBay sometimes. It's called the M1943 for the American version. I've seen the Israeli and British ones on there as well.

Why do they look like Edward Greens?

Those and only those are what I have always called "combat boots." U.S. Army combat boots were a very specific style of boot, i.e., those illustrated above, and not to be confused with paratrooper boots, jungle boots, U.S. Army marching shoes and sundry other, more contemporary military boots.

I have had my Lotusse boots for aout 10+ years now and I think the leather has aged beautifully ... And I wear them with great pleassure. I particulary like the "fat" look of the leather. Never been a fan of the high gloss look on the combat boots. Almost all EX mill boots have a round last and NOT fitt ...

Brian, just got these while in London from Paul Smith (collab with Triumph)

combat boot-esque, laceup & side zip. Solid as hell, for walking over the corpses of your enemies

I usually wear these combat-training-proven bellevilles with a pair of levis relaxed fit medium stonewash pants and a dark leather jacket with a "healthy used look". When it is colder i add a sweat jacket with hood.

And they are somewhat comfortable to wear. More than my Samba's.

I just won a brand new pair of these (well, the all-leather version) Altamas on the 'bay for $10. I'm going to see the Foo Fighters in March and I got general admission tickets to the "mosh pit section" so I need to rock something other than Santonis or Aldens. I'll report back once I receive them.
